Sometimes rain, sometimes not
A shorter blog post today, just to collect my thoughts on a few things that I’ve recently done / enjoyed.
A new song
First off the bat, I finally made something I’m actually very very happy with - a new song called ‘Overheat’ inspired by the amazing recent weeks in Eve Online and the huge fleet battles me and the group Running With Dogs have been having.
As I’ve stated a couple times in this blog, I’m still making music - buying expensive synths and wasting countless hours on things I don’t release, but overheat marks the start of ( hopefully ) a productive year in the hobby. I pushed myself to make a song with a higher tempo - but ultimately I really wanted to focus in one the mixing of the song.
I learned a tonne making this track, it was fun getting to play with Serum 2, experiment with the Deepmind and Eurorack a bit more and thankfully build my confidence with ‘I can actually make music I enjoy’. The muscle memory of confidence is stating to build. I’m starting to actually believe that this stuff might be enjoyed by someone one day and that feels great. It was completed within a week, to practice the idea of ‘Being your own client’. The idea is you set yourself a strict deadline, give a brief description of the work and do your best to meet that goal. It’s essentially the most boring kind of roleplay, but hey - it worked!.
Ofcourse now it’s out in the world and I listen to it again, there are a few things that I would change - but overall I’m very happy with it and really do think I could make an EP of some sort this year.
Social stuff
I re-visited Manchester to celebrate the Birthday of one of my closest friends Chris, who not only got a new job, passed his driving test and got his first car… also survived another rotation around the Sun, what a guy!.
We started our day off at a monkey forest ( I didn’t know it was a thing either ) on a beautiful hot and sunny Manchester day, before heading into town to pretend we can still drink like we are 23. We cannot. It was a fantastic trip back ‘home’. I had tried to go to three viewings for apartments in the city, but all three had an offer accepted before I could even view them. I’ll leave my rants on the housing market for a more boring blog.
Day’s like that really do boost your spirits for the next couple of weeks though and it’s reinforced this belif I need to move back to Manchester if for nothing else, the mental health boost of having these lovely clowns close by.

Game stuff
Eve online is a real blast at the moment, Running with dogs has turned out to be the best corp I’ve ever flown with. We’ve had some huge fleet battles and the universe of New Eden really does feel engaging again. Hell, last night I stayed up to fly in a bombing wing of seven players whilst we did bombing runs on Dread Ships. There were 900 people in the same star system at the height of the bloody battle. An intense fight was had, with our Alliance winning a great victory, but as with everything in eve, the main spoils were the fun of watching spaceships blow up!.
I also have a silly idea for a new Eve Online application - but won’t discuss any further as I don’t even know if I have the time to build it at the moment.
